‘Terrifier 2’ Is Fully Funded, and Then Some
Just three hours after an Indiegogo campaign was launched to help finance Damien Leone’s horror sequel, Terrifier 2, the project reached its intended goal of $50,000 USD. After only one day that amount has more than doubled, and now stands at over $108K!
There are still plenty of perks available for those who wish to contribute, and writer/director Leone promises a bigger, badder, and bloodier affair than his 2016 original. One planned scene in particular (described below) will be “epic” according to the film’s director…
“Without beating around the bush, I wrote an EPIC scene in the screenplay for Terrifier 2 that we currently do not have enough money to shoot. Without spoiling all the juicy, gory details, the scene will involve mass casualties and the destruction of its location, BUT it is the context of the scene that truly makes it so original. We’re aiming to create a scene so shocking and iconic that people will talk about it for years to come. Imagine if Art the Clown was in charge of the prom mayhem in Carrie…meets David Lynch…meets Maniac….just sayin’.”
If Terrifier 2 does manage to outdo its predecessor in the blood and guts department, it should be quite a spectacle to behold since the original didn’t exactly hold back the gore. One of the advantages of producing the movie completely independently, notes Leone, is that the filmmakers are free to make it as “violent and bat-shit crazy” as they want.
As expected, David Howard Thornton is set to reprise his role as “Art the Clown”. See below for a brief synopsis of the sequel:
“After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. As the body count rises, the siblings fight to stay alive while uncovering the true nature of Art’s evil intent.”
Additional funds for the project will be put toward more elaborate special effects, stunts, and the inclusion of an “legendary horror icon” for a key role in the film. With over a month to go until the end of the 41-day campaign, you can head on over to the Terrifier 2 Indiegogo page to check out some of the cool perks and be involved with the return of Art the Clown.
