Scream Factory’s ‘My Bloody Valentine’ Blu-ray Will Feature Fully Restored Uncut Version

My Bloody Valentine Heart

When the original My Bloody Valentine made its Blu-ray debut from Lionsgate back in 2009, one of the key selling points was the inclusion of some rarely seen deleted footage. The cut scenes were viewable either as an extra, or as part of the film. This was a pretty big deal, because the newly discovered material consisted of several graphic murder sequences that had fallen victim to the blade of the MPAA. My Bloody Valentine joined the ranks of many other slasher films that suffered heavy censorship during the 1980s, most notable among these of course being the Friday the 13th series. One drawback of the 2009 video release, however, was that the deleted footage had been integrated from a lesser-quality film source compared to bulk of the movie. The result was a somewhat jarring transition from the R-rated version to the extra gory bits when watching the uncut version. Apparently, a complete uncut negative was believed to be lost at the time…

Well, Scream Factory recently announced a new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of My Bloody Valentine and it now appears to be fully remastered in 4K from the UNCUT camera negative! (That means farewell to low-quality inserts.) Continue below for a quick comparison between the old and new transfers, and full specs for Scream’s upcoming release which is scheduled to hit the streets February 11, 2020.
