Must-See: ‘Kung Fury’ Short Film and David Hasselhoff Music Video

Kung Fury

Kung Fury

Wow! Not sure how this one went undetected on the old radar for the last four years, but here it is for anyone else who may have missed it…

Kung Fury is a 2015 independent short directed by Swedish filmmaker David Sandberg. The 30-minute feature is a throwback to 1980s martial arts and police action movies with a splash of bloody violence tossed in for good measure. The project began as a Kickstarter program back in 2013 and stars director Sandberg in the title role as tough-guy cop “Kung Fury”. After sustaining a lightning strike and a snake bite, Kung Fury develops super-human powers and travels through time to Nazi Germany to defeat Adolf Hitler, or “Kung Führer”.

Yes, it is every bit as nuts as it sounds. You get plenty of gun violence, explosions, kung fu action, time travel, sports cars, skateboards, dinosaurs, and more! Mixed in among the mayhem are nods to 80s TV favorites such as Miami Vice and Knight Rider, including a very amusing cameo by David Hasselhoff.

Produced on a modest budget of approximately $600,000, Kung Fury was shot primarily in Sweden using green screens and digital effects to replicate the various locations and time periods. You can watch the entire film below, so prepare yourself for a half hour of insane fun that you will likely not soon forget.
