First Look: ‘Samhain’ from Gravestone Films (Photos)
“Some family isn’t worth fighting for”, proclaims the poster for Gravestone Films’ brand new feature, Samhain. We first learned of the project last year while it was still in pre-production. The independent horror-comedy began shooting during the summer of 2019, and has since been completed with an anticipated theatrical release in October 2020. We now have our first look at the film, including some exclusive stills provided to us by Gravestone Films.
The plot: Justin Freed (Brett Harris) suffers a mental breakdown during the festival of Samhain and is committed to the “Skook Asylum”. Years later, in the days before Halloween, Justin escapes and seeks to hunt down and kill his estranged daughter, Sami. In an attempt to stop Justin in his tracks, Sami’s mother Kathryn returns to town to try and learn about Justin’s experiences during his confinement. Meanwhile, Justin has taken on a second personality as an evil clown called “Rellik”. Without realizing the danger that awaits, four video game nerds confront Rellik in order to protect their “princess” and become real-life heroes, as the psychotic clown sets out to find his family and kill anyone who gets in his way.
Samhain was directed by Gabriele Rolland from a script by executive producer and Gravestone founder Scotty McCoy.
In advance of the official release coming this fall, a red carpet event and movie premiere will take place on March 28th in Coaldale, Pennsylvania at the Angela Triplex Theater.
