Frankenhooker Reunion

If you were fortunate enough to experience NJ Horror Con this past weekend, then hopefully you had the opportunity to catch the Frankenhooker reunion featuring Patty Mullen and James Lorinz. The two stars from Frank Henenlotter’s 1990 cult favorite appeared in costume for autograph signings, photo ops, and to chat with fans. Mullen and Lorinz also participated on stage Friday night for a special panel to speak about the film, as well as current and upcoming projects.

In recent years, in-costume appearances at various horror and sci-fi conventions have gained increasing popularity. It’s always fun to see our favorite characters take part in these types of events, and that is no exception in the case of Frankenhooker. The film of course was Frank Henenlotter’s follow-up to Basket Case and Brain Damage, so anyone familiar with the director’s work by the time Frankenhooker came along likely knew what they would be in store for. And if you’re a horror fan who grew up during the VHS era, then you almost certainly have fond memories of walking into your local video rental shop to find the Frankenhooker “Talking Box” tape cover that would ceremoniously belt out the words “wanna date?” when you pressed the magic button. The movie itself lived up to its title, retelling the “Frankenstein” story with a modern twist and the type of strangeness and humor that only Henenlotter can deliver, complete with “super crack”, exploding prostitutes, and some of the most quotable dialogue ever written.

The following video was taken during the panel at NJ Horror Con. In this clip, stars Patty Mullen and James Lorinz discuss Frankenhooker, dream projects, “Zorro”, and the boots…
